Cracked: The Secrets to Learning Anything Faster

Discover Powerful Techniques to Accelerate Your Learning Journey and Master New Skills with Ease

Hy guys, wasn’t able to write an issue last week due to lack of content creation system in place and i had to put some things in place.

I now have a system that will enable me write consistently. I will be sharing it with you soon.

Now, we will be focusing on 5 methods that has the highest return when you want to learn something new.

These will take your learning to the next level. Let’s dive in

1. Have a goal

Know exactly what you want to achieve with the material you are studying even before starting.

This is why most people struggle to learn things.

Also ask yourself as many question as to why you need to do it

  • Information attached/combined with emotions is unforgettable

2. Optimize your work environment

Do not work on your bed as this may cause you to have problems with your sleep later because your brain may not be able to differentiate between it and the work environment..

Having a dedicated environment helps you get in the “zone” easily and to make your studying more efficient, always study in the same place with

  • Good lightening

  • Temperature

  • Ventilation

3. Study for a time range

Choose a time range to study for.

You could study for 30-45 mins, take a 5 mins break, another 30-45 mins and take another 5 mins break.

This method is called the Pomodoro technique and it also goes well with something called primacy and recency

The pomodoro is an indivisible unit of time and can not be broken, especially not to check incoming emails, team chats, or text messages.

Any ideas, tasks, or requests that come up should be taken note of to come back to later.

Primacy means you tend to remember the first things you read while recency means you tend to remember the last things you learnt.

Since with recency and primacy you remember the first things you read and the last things you learnt, and we forget the things we learnt with time.

Taking a break will lessen the gap between when you remember and when you forget information.

That way your retention will be higher

How to maximize your breaks

  • Move around

  • Staying hydrate - can boost your thinking speed -upwards to around 15%, 30%

  • Get some fresh air

4. Active recall

Quiz yourself at the end and beginning of a study session about what you learnt.

After every break, make sure you try to recall what you learnt by quizzing yourself.

5. Learning with the intention of teaching someone else

This is called the explanation effect.

You retain more of what you teach someone

Because when you teach something, you get to learn it twice.

That's it. This will boost your learning rate.

Meet you in the next issue.
